The Start of a New Church
“Following Jesus and Becoming Fishers of Men” Matthew 4:19

“God wants an independent, fundamental Baptist church in Clarksville, Tennessee.”
Pastor John S. Dalton

Gateway Baptist chartered as a Church on September 24, 2000. A preacher and a handful of pioneering Christians started meeting together for church in houses. Within a month, they rented an office building on Riverside Drive. Still yet, after another month they had outgrown the office building. While praying and seeking the Lord for a bigger building, God led them to rent a completely empty church building on 1810 Memorial Drive. The Lord provided them with the needed church furniture. Through prayer, God gave them a very nice used oak church furniture consisting of cushioned pews, a pulpit, Lord’s supper table, and choir chairs. Not long after that, God gave them a good console piano and an organ. God continued to provide for their needs with P.A. equipment, vans, buses, and office equipment.

The church rented the building on Memorial Drive for seven years while raising money to purchase their own property. On November 7, 2007, the church held their first Sunday service in the new, purchased  building at 131 Corporate Drive and God gave faithful volunteers to help renovate the building into a nicely furnished church building. Praise the Lord for His goodness!

There is still so much more that God has for Gateway in the years to come. We must continue to pray and give toward our building fund for future land and property for this growing church.

We encourage each member to take an active part at Gateway Baptist Church with the following: attending all of the weekly services, daily Bible reading and prayer, tithing, and witnessing to others of our Lord and Saviour.
